By Unlimiter.  The Bluebird II is the outstanding new recording communication device everyone is talking about!  This 10 message level (and 1 toy/appliance control level) device breaks new ground by attaching the overlays to the face of the keyboard via a 4 ring connection.  The user simply flips to the overlay desired and presses the corresponding level button to have access to all 10 message overlays/levels.  Since the overlays are attached to the device there is nothing else to carry.  The user never has to remove an overlay in order to place another overlay in position for use!

The Bluebird II is accessible by pressing keys on the keyboard, one or two switch input to select up to two messages per level, and one or two switch auditory scanning (user listens to auditory cue via earphone).  This device does not operate via visual switch scanning.

The Bluebird II weighs 2.25 lbs. and measures 11.7" x 8.5" x 1.4".  It features built-in legs that can be flipped up to provide a 15 degree tilt as well as a rear hand-strap.  The device is powered by a rechargeable battery and an AC adapter is provided.

The Bluebird II features a 24 key keyboard (four rows by six columns) that can be configured, using Picture Master Language Software (PMLS), for fewer and larger keys. PMLS is used to create manual communication overlays and to create overlays and program the Bluebird II  communication device!  PMLS is a unique software package that allows you to create communication boards with unprecedented flexibility.  Simply choose a grid and place symbols on it.  Over 3,000 symbols available in 6 different formats are provided; black/white simple line drawing, color simple line drawing, black/white realistic drawing, color realistic drawing, photograph, and animated GIF files.  Use the format most recognizable to the user.  At any time you can change the graphic format of a single symbol or all of the symbols on a page!

When using PMLS to place a symbol on a page (either on the computer screen or overlay for the Bluebird II) you are doing more than simply adding a picture.  Each symbol includes a label and prerecorded message in English, French, German or Spanish!  As a symbol is placed on a page the prerecorded message and text label is automatically placed with it (in the language of your choice)!  You can change the prerecorded message any time you wish with your own recordings.  If creating a page/overlay for the Bluebird II the message set is downloaded to its memory card and the overlay printed out.  Place the printed overlay on the Bluebird II, plug the memory card into its slot on the Bluebird II and you are ready to communicate!  A Memory Card Reader/Writer is included with the Bluebird II/PMLS Combo package.

Communication overlays created with PMLS may also be used as simple on-screen dynamic displays that speak and change from page to page, essentially turning your computer into a voice output device that is great for training and as an introduction to augmentative communication!  These dynamic pages may be accessed via mouse and touchscreen.

Picture Master Language Software is also used to create overlays for the Cardinal and Hummingbird communication devices.
